Orchid Species
Orchids, which appeared on earth more than one hundred and forty thousand years ago, look so different from each other, but with all the variety of species, all orchids have flowers that are unique in structure.
Three sepals alternate with two lateral petals, and the third (larger) petal of the flower is modified into an original formation in the shape of a lip. Brighter than the rest of the petals, the lip is attractive and convenient for planting pollinating insects.
The orchid family is the largest flower family on earth. There are over 30,000 wild orchid species and 250,000 hybrid varieties in the world. Through the efforts of breeders, about four hundred new varietal plants appear annually, but wild species that were previously unknown to botanists often come across them.
